Anyone can produce an invoice. These are the parts most often missing, and each one is a fortnight of delay when it is.

Bill the client’s legal entity as it is registered rather than the brand on the website, and ask at kickoff whether they use purchase-order numbers. An invoice missing a PO number does not get rejected. It gets parked, silently, and nobody tells you.

Give it a real due date rather than “net 14”. The person paying it should never have to do arithmetic to know whether you are owed money today.

Say what the payment buys: “licence and ownership of the finished work transfer on payment in full”. One entirely normal sentence, and it turns chasing from a favour into completing a transaction.

And give them a way to pay that takes ten seconds. Bank details mean opening a banking app and keying in a reference; a card link means a tap. The gap between those two is a meaningful share of what you are owed at any given moment.
